Harris Corporation s Global Innovation Center Achieves LEED Silver Certification

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification for its new Global Innovation Center - a state-of-the-art, interactive technology showcase located in Melbourne. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification program that honors best-in-class building practices and strategies.

The center received the certification for energy and environmental efficiency. Elements that were highlighted include:

Optimized energy performance - 35% better than standards

Efficient water fixtures and irrigation - 40% better than standards

Construction waste reuse and management - saving over 50% of debris from landfills

Reflective roof installation to reduce solar heat

Ten percent reuse of resources and recycled content

The LEED Silver certification underscores Harris' commitment to sustainability by focusing on environmentally sound renovation and construction, said Allison Montgomery, director, Environmental Health and Safety, Harris Corporation. Additionally, these conservation efforts enhance the efficiency of our operations and reduce costs.

At the heart of the Global Innovation Center is an immersive and interactive experience area showcasing how Harris technology is used across the world to connect, inform and protect. With 4,400 square feet of exhibits - including eight digital, interactive experiences and a 20-by-7-foot interactive mural - visitors can explore the mission critical innovations relied upon from ocean to orbit and everywhere in between.
