Science and technology boost cultural industry

Recently, Ningbo Culture and technology integration industry base, centered on Ningbo National High-tech Zone, has been identified as one of the second batch of state-level culture and technology integration demonstration bases by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Culture and the General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. This is another achievement by Ningbo in accelerating the development of the cultural industry, which means that in the future the cultural industry in Ningbo will obtain more state-level policy resources and technological power.

The improvement of the scientific and technological strength has laid a solid foundation for the rapid growth of Ningbos cultural industry. At present, there are 1173 above-scale enterprises. By the end of the first half of this year, the added value of the cultural industry had accounted for 4.16% of the GDP growth, instead of 4.41% last year. By November, the city had accumulated 54,399 approved patents, including 2049 invention patents. The guiding role of science and technology in the cultural industry stands out. This year, three more projects have been listed among the national cultural and technological innovation projects supported during the 12th Five-year Plan period, including the "integration system of stage effect equipment control" by Dafeng Industrial Co. Ltd, the "integration technology and system of stage auditory presentation" by Soundking Group and the "technology research and application demonstration of Ningbo cultural and creative integration display" by Tianwei Culture Group. The independent innovation and cooperative development brought about by the integration of cultural industry and science and technology has sped up the transformation and upgrading of the traditional cultural industry. Such new industrial forms as animation and online games achieve a rapid growth, and the new media forms such as the mobile terminal and internet develop at a great speed, which has constantly driven and accelerated the incubation of the scientific and technological enterprises.

With its strong spilling-out effects, the cultural industry can be easily combined with the new technology and new carrier to create new industrial forms. In turn, science and technology can help the cultural industry to develop more business forms, and promote the development of cultural industry. In recent years, such emerging industries as the cultural and creative industry, the new cultural industry forms and the software design services have witnessed rapid development, and such industries as animation and online games have become a new hotspot of the cultural industry in Ningbo. By the end of last year, there had been 1646 emerging industry units, with a realized added value of 3.38 billion yuan. As one of the emerging industries, the software design services industry maintained a rapid growth rate, and it is expected to complete a business income of 23.5 billion yuan, up by 32% over the previous year. The construction of software parks have been actively promoted all over the city, and the industrial clustering effect becomes more obvious and the regional distribution more centralized.

Science and technology may promote culture, which in turn helps to improve science and technology. Ningbo High tech Zone, by speeding up the integration of culture and technology, and actively planning and constructing the Cultural and Creative Clustering Zone covering the Cultural and Creative Industry Base, Ningbo Software Park, and Ningbo R & D Park, based on the existing technological innovation, incubation and clustering platforms, has established a great platform for the organic integration of science & technology and culture and helped to attract over 40,000 talents of various fields.
