25 Seasons of New York Yankees on YES Network: The Day 1 Crew Looks Back on a Quarter Century in the Bronx - and Stamford

After more than 3,000 games, five members of YES Network's original staff reflect on how the broadcasts - and their own careers - grew up together

To say we lived in a different world 25 years ago is the most spectacular of understatements. If you want to understand just how much has changed over a quarter of a century of New York Yankees baseball on YES Network, start with Jared Boshnack.

In March 2002, Boshnack was a promising graphics coordinator working under head of on-air graphics Rick Deutschman, building the visual identity of a television network that didn't exist. Yet. Lower thirds, full screens, slabs, the scorebug all went into Photoshop and were rebuilt to work on a Chyron iNFiNiT! (we're really dating ourselves here).

There was no established way to do any of this because there was no established YES. There was a well-established MAYBE? or YOU'D BETTER!

We spent more time in the office than with our families for months, Boshnack recalls.

Everything felt big then and now, he says.

Then the clock struck noon on March 19, 2002, and all the work suddenly became television. YES went on the air with an introductory show and, later that day, carried its first baseball telecast, a New York Yankees-Cincinnati Reds Spring Training Game from Tampa, FL.
