Post-MIPCOM UK & DK Delegation

This month were leading an official delegation to London and Copenhagen as part of our continuing drive to foster international investment and co-production opportunities for Australian screen businesses.

Led by our CEO, Matthew Deaner, the trip is timed to commence post-MIPCOM with delegates participating in a range of meetings, networking and social gatherings arranged by Screen Producers Australia with the assistance in London, of PACT (Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television), and in Copenhagen, the Danish Producer's Association, the Danish Film Institute and Ministry of Culture. The Australian delegation is being joined by ABC TV and is supported by Screen Australia.

Screen Producers Australia members have had incredible success in the U.K. over the past decade. Many television productions have received excellent time slots and universal admiration, ground breaking interactive commissions from U.K. companies have led the world in innovation, Australian children's live drama and animation production is envied and feature films have charmed and terrified British audiences in equal measure, Mr Deaner said.

This London engagement program will build on that success, furthering our friendly and constructive relationship with PACT and its members and provide real openings for developing mutually beneficial business opportunities.

Mr Deaner said that the Danes are lauded for their television drama and strong local feature film industry, with recent outstanding television dramas, particularly The Killing (3 seasons) and Bergen, winning accolades and awards across numerous territories: With direct government involvement through the Danish Ministry of Culture, the trip to Copenhagen will offer an opportunity for Australian production businesses to meet with Danish producers in this exciting market which is rarely, if ever, engaged with by the local industry.

The delegations from the UK and Denmark are substantial both in numbers but also in terms of the experience and expertise of the producers attending. There is a genuine desire from heavy hitters in both countries to meet Australian producers and explore business opportunities between our countries.

Mr Deaner added that an official delegation from the UK led by PACT and featuring 10 key British production companies, is confirmed for the SCREEN FOREVER International Partnership Market (IPM). Matthew Graff, Commercial Director, ZigZag Productions; Maartje Horchner, Head of Acquisitions, All3 Media International; Bea Tammer, Senior Sales & Acquisitions, Argonon International; Stephen Dunleavy, Creative Director, Humble Bee Films: Barry Ryan, MD & Creative Director, Free@Last TV; Deborah Manners, CEO, Keo Films; Will Hanrahan, First Look TV, Dawn Mccarthy-Simpson, Director Of International Development at PACT and representatives from Popkorn and Duchess St Productions will attend SCREEN FOREVER 2015, the Australian screen production industry's conference event, 17-19 November, Crown Conference Centre, Melbourne.
