(arvato Systems) G tersloh/Leipzig -- arvato Systems is soon set to offer energy suppliers a BSI-compliant, full-service package for the administration of smart meter gateways.

Demands arising from the transition to renewable energies mean that fundamental changes are necessary in the energy sector. Draft legislation proposed by the German government is calling for increased use of smart meters, with corresponding regulations set to take effect midyear. A number of public utility companies are now faced with the challenge of finding their own way to implement and manage modern power meters. For reasons of data privacy and data security, it is especially important to guarantee the authenticity, safeguard the confidentiality, and maintain the integrity of the data being processed. An all-in-one system for measurement data collection, gateway administration, and IT security management is required in order to fulfill the provisions of the Measurement System Regulation (MsysV) and Technical Guideline TR-03109 issued by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). One other basic requirement is certification according to ISO 27001 and BSI's IT-Grundschutz. We are offering energy suppliers and public utilities an ASP-based, full-service package for gateway administration, independent of the pending passage of the necessary regulations. In addition to implementation of the systems and processes in compliance with the regulatory requirements and - on request - operation of IT systems, we also ensure certification as required by the BSI.
