#DreamReal Presents the Ride of a Lifetime

Dreams are not always rainbows and butterflies. In fact, sometimes the best dreams come during the most trying circumstances. This is exactly the case for Jerome Deschamps, the most recent GoPro #DreamReal recipient from Southern France.

When we first sat down to watch Jerome's submission video-a simple, one-subject piece that was focused on Jerome, standing in the French countryside, telling a story-everything was so picturesque.

My intention was to explain my dream in a simple and authentic way, he explains of his video that warranted a resounding yes' from the #DreamReal team.

One year ago, Jerome lost his cousin, and best friend, in a motorcycle accident. Shortly after, a close mutual friend also passed away. During this time, Jerome couldn't help but remember a recent trip the pair had taken to motorcycle through the red rocks of the Southwest U.S. They told him stories of cruising the winding roads and finding their way to the vast Grand Canyon. Jerome recalls listening in awe as the duo, who taught him to ride, recounted the trip.

They gave me this passion, Jerome says. Coming back from their last journey to the USA before dying, they told me so many beautiful things [about Arizona] with stars in eyes. He would have really liked to share that with me, and for me to see it with my own.

His goal was to recreate this trip through Arizona, Utah and Nevada and give his friends one last ride of a lifetime. This is where #DreamReal came in, mainly because this would be his first international trip and he needed a motorcycle equipped for distance riding.

From cruising Sedona on bends of hell to flying over the Grand Canyon by helicopter, which was his favorite moment, Jerome says the beauty was overwhelming. But his highlight came from carrying out his dream of honoring his loved ones.

The most powerful part, undoubtedly the last honor that I made for them, was to spread their ashes over the Grand Canyon. I feel like I carried out a very important mission, and it freed me from all the sadness which I had, because now I know that they are happy where they are.
