CACHE-A TURBO-CHARGES PRO-CACHE6 ARCHIVE APPLIANCE

Cache-A Corporation (www.cache-a.com), manufacturer of award-winning archiving appliances, has announced Pro-Cache610, a new, turbo-charged version of its flagship Pro-Cache6 LTO-6 archive appliance. The high-performance Pro-Cache610 features 10-gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) I/O capability, significantly boosting the speed and power of network archiving operations.

Cache-A has made this new development in direct response to the advent of low-cost, 10GbE infrastructure technology, and the corresponding media and entertainment industry demand to take advantage of the extra productivity 10GbE delivers. Cache-A will debut Pro-Cache610, along with its full LTO-6 product range, and brand new Simul-Copy LTO-tape duplication feature, during IBC 2013, Amsterdam, at its stand Hall 7.A04.

Cache-As archiving appliances can manage 100s of Terabytes of data, written using the industry-standard tar format, or LTFS (Linear Tape File System) capability.

Versatile I/O connectivity options facilitate their deployment in on-set carts, with SAN/NAS systems in post and robotic libraries. With Cache-A, users can easily interchange content across different platforms, software applications and physical locations, as well as deliver content to their clients.

Pro-Cache610 is based on Cache-As flagship Pro-Cache6 appliance, and features dual RJ-45 connections for 10Gb Ethernet I/O, allowing high-speed archiving at over 150MB/s. It also has eSATA ports for fast access to direct attached storage, and a SAS connection allowing seamless connectivity to Cache-A LTO-6 library or sidecar expansion units, as well as third-party robotic systems.

Pro-Cache610 comes with 6TB internal HDD RAID 0 or RAID 1 disk-cache storage, while LTO-6 cartridges can hold up to 2.5TB of data natively. It is rack-mountable in a central machine room, but can also be easily deployed in on-set cart systems, and is particularly well-suited to archiving operations where massive amounts of data are generated every day.

Maxx Digital, a leading supplier of video, audio and digital media storage solutions, in Costa Mesa, California, is a Cache-A test site for the Pro-Cache610, which is expected to ship worldwide in this Fall.
