New single-driver in-ear monitors from Sennheiser

The latest IEMs from Sennheiser continue the company's tradition of avoiding the multiple-driver, balanced-armature designs used in many other manufacturers' IEMs. Instead, the IE400 and top-of-the-range IE500 each use a single Sennheiser TrueResponse' driver, which the manufacturers claim makes for cleaner, more detailed and natural-sounding monitoring, as well as allowing users to drive them at lower levels, thereby preserving everyones hearing for longer.

Both models are available in clear and smoky black finishes and are supplied with a transport case, detachable cables (a noise-resistant twisted-pair cable in the case of the IE500), an eighth-to-quarter-inch jack adaptor, ear hooks, silicone ear adaptors and memory foam tips to comfortably fit every user. Thanks to the latter forming an efficient seal in the ear canal, Sennheiser claim the new IEMs can also protect your hearing from excessively loud stage sound.

Designed for the rigours of stage use, both the IE400 and IE500 should be shipping by the time you read this, priced at £289$349 and £499$599 respectively.
