Tourists number hit record high during May Day holiday

Ningbos major tourist attractions received a record number of tourists during the three-day May Day holiday, said local tourism authorities.

Ningbo's Xiangshan County welcomed a total of 730,000 tourists by May 3, up 46 percent over last years 500,000 tourists.

According to a director of Xiangshan County Tourism Bureau, major local tourism attractions like Songlanshan Moutain and Xiangshan Film TV Studio launched various activities including bonfire parties, trade in & recycle fairs, and traditional costumes parades, attracting many tourists. Tourist number of Songlanshan Resort on May 2 grew by 198 percent year on year, with its ticket revenue growing by 322 percent. Shipu Fishing Port also saw a ticket revenue increase by 83 percent year on year. On may 1, the first day of the public holiday, Xiangshan Film TV Studio saw a ticket revenue growth by 260 percent year on year. Besides, boat tours and fishing tours also attracted a large number of tourists. A total of 50 boat tours were organized for the tourists.

Another attraction for tourists is local farm tours including gourmet tours, flowers watching tours, and fruit picking tours. Yangmao Folk Culture Village launched a Gourmet Week during the public holiday. The tasteful local cuisine attracted many visitors. The cherry picking tour launched by Qiangtou village and Barbecue Tour by Huangxin Farm also attracted thousands of tourists. Statistics show the farm tour destinations in Xiangshan County received a total of 89,000 tourists, bringing in a total revenue of nearly 900 million yuan.

Meanwhile, Fenghua City launched a series of farm tours including mountain tours, gourmet tours, and fruits picking tours. Local tourism said their farm tours have attracted 150,000 tourists in the three-day holiday, which brought a total revenue of 150 million yuan, 20 percent higher over the same period last year.

Major tourist attractions in urban districts also saw booming tourists. Seven major scenic spots including Youngor Zoo, Dongqianhu Lake, Taogong Island, Southern Song Dynasty Stone Park received a total of 101,800 tourists in the past three days, with a total ticket income of 5,386,300 yuan. Visitors to Youngor Zoo reached a record of 26,000 people on May 1 while tourists to Dongqianhu Lake hit 11,300 on May 2.

The tourist boom also helped local hotels to reach a record high occupancy rate. According to a survey over five major local hotels, the occupancy rate has reached 62 percent during April 30 to May 3, the highest record. The figure even hit 89 percent on during the first two days of the public holiday.
