Netflix ISP Speed Index for September 2021

It was a relatively quiet month on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience. In September, no services posted major increases or decreases larger than 0.2 Megabits per second (Mbps).

Thirty-five percent of ISPs improved by 0.2 Mbps. On the other side, six ISPs fell by 0.2 Mbps.

Taiwan's Broadband and Mobile services each dropped to 3.2 Mbps and 2.6 Mbps, respectively. Elsewhere in Asia Pacific, Australia's MyRepublic NBN dipped from 3.2 Mbps to 3 Mbps.

Guatemala's CableColor and Italy's Linkem each fell from 2.6 Mbps to 2.4 Mbps.

The number of countries and regions that appeared in the top performance-tier in September quadrupled from five in August to 21. For a sixth and fifth month in a row, respectively, the Netherlands and Singapore made the list. They were joined by Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK, and the US. All areas registered an average speed of 3.6 Mbps.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of primetime Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.
