The TVSA primetime TV viewing figures have revealed that e.tv lost 1million viewers in April when it introduced its new raunchy show The Black Door which replaced Imbewu: The Seed in its popular 9.30 pm slot.

The figures also indicate that Imbewu: The Seed lost over 1 million viewers when it moved to the 9 pm slot.

VIEWERS TUNE OUT OF THE RAUNCHY SHOW Imbewu: The Seed lost viewers in April when e.tv replaced it with its new risqu show The Black Door on the 9.30 pm slot.

The popular telenovela is now competing with Muvhango and The Queen in the 9 pm timeslot.

Imbewu received 3,442,796 viewers in March when it aired in its 9.30 pm slot and dropped to 2,860,068 when the channel moved it to the 9 pm slot in April while The Black Door received 2,449,977 viewers in April.

The Black Door is dubbed Mzansi's Emmanuelle as it depicts graphic scenes which involve sex workers.

Black Brain stated that they spent a lot of time with sex workers, coming to understand them before the show was established.

We didn't just want to do a sex scene, but tell stories. We came to understand that when they go to places that I've never been to, it's their place of work.

For example, people have relationships at work, but what does a relationship look like between two sex workers?
