Vancouvers Emily Carr University of Art + Design invests in Pablo Rio

Leading art, media and design University chooses Quantel for HFR, UHD and S3D research

Vancouver-based Emily Carr University of Art Design has purchased a Quantel Pablo Rio color correction and finishing system and two Pablo PA workflow assist stations to further research into advanced media techniques and workflows. The systems will be used for the production of S3D content, and research into high frame rate 4K-8K S3D production pipelines. Quantels Canadian post-production reseller, Annex Pro, designed the system which includes the first Pablo Rio 4K in Vancouver.

Emily Carrs S3D Centre, located on Vancouvers Granville Island, opened in May 2010 and leads a project within the GRAND Network Centre of Excellence, which links universities working on film and media topics across Canada. The S3D Centre applies technical knowledge towards aesthetic excellence in advanced media practices. The Centre plans to make the Pablo Rio accessible to the digital media industries with rentals and future post-production training programs.
