After a successful inaugural season for ProVelo Super League (PSL), SBS is delighted to announce that it will again be the Official Australian Broadcast Partner for the 2026 season of Australia's elite road cycling league, and the Presenting Partner of the SBS Women's League.
As Australia's Home of Cycling, SBS will continue to deliver a comprehensive viewing experience for audiences throughout the PSL season. Cycling and sports fans alike will be able to watch the Road to the World Tour' live, free and exclusively on SBS, SBS VICELAND, and SBS On Demand. Replays, extensive highlights and behind-the-scenes content will be available on SBS On Demand.
The driving ambition behind the ProVelo Super League was to create a platform to showcase Australia's emerging and elite riders as they develop on the domestic racing circuit before progressing to the world stage. The inaugural ProVelo season featured 321 elite athletes representing 14 nationalities and has seen more than a dozen riders secure WorldTour Team connected opportunities from season one.
Furthering its support of Australian road cycling and the PSL, SBS has also renewed as the Presenting Partner of the PSL women's division, the SBS Women's League.
SBS Director of Sport, Ken Shipp, said: SBS takes its position as Australia's Home of Cycling seriously and remains committed to showcasing the sport in all its depth and diversity. Our partnership with the ProVelo Super League gives Australians the chance to follow the next generation of riders from their early breakthroughs on home soil through to the world's biggest races, including the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
SBS's lead cycling commentator Matt Keenan said the advent of the ProVelo Super League (PSL) had been a game-changer for talented young Australian riders looking to make the leap to the international peloton.
It's a launching pad for the next generation of Australian cyclists,'' Keenan said. Last year we saw the birth of the next generation of stars that we are going to be watching on SBS in the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift over the next few years. It's really important for our young riders, to give them a taste of racing at the top level nationally before they then go and race overseas. It sets them up perfectly.
Keenan noted that the inaugural overall winners of the PSL last summer had since joined international teams. Men's winner Jack Ward is now with the Lidl-Trek Future Racing team, and women's winner Sophie Marr has joined the Liv AlUla-Jayco Women's Continental Team.
The PSL has been the perfect development ground for those riders and it's not going to be long before we see them in the big WorldTour races. The depth of Australian cycling is really impressive, and when you watch the quality of racing in the PSL, the standard of racing is exceptional for a domestic league. Sometimes as Australians we don't realise how good the racing is on home soil. For Aussie cycling fans who want to follow the journeys of tomorrow's stars, this is a great place to start.''
PSL Co-Founder Matt Wilson said: SBS recommitting to PSL and our vision after our successful first season is an important milestone. We remain committed to creating a season format that will be bold, innovative and attractive to broadcasters, whilst building narratives that will be engaging for cycling and sports fans more broadly.
Wilson added, We are also pleased that the women's division will continue as the SBS Women's League. The entire podium of the SBS Women's championship in season one has secured WorldTour level opportunities and it's fantastic that SBS will continue to support this critical pathway for elite female cycling.
The 2026 ProVelo Super League calendar has now been released, with the season commencing on 24 January in Adelaide and concluding in Queensland on 22 March, where the league winners will be crowned. The confirmed schedule features a combination of multi-day tours and Australia's two classic one-day races, with events taking place across the country.
