New RT podcast explores the hidden stories of modern Irish history

RT 's new history podcast, What Were We Like, is out now. Hosted by historian Diarmaid Ferriter and archivist Catriona Crowe, the series focuses on modern Irish history, spanning from Collins and De Valera to the Celtic Tiger years, and everything in between.

It follows Diarmaid and Catriona's special series on the history of the Presidency, published during the height of last year's election campaign.

In the first two episodes of this new series, Diarmaid and Catriona look at the most belligerent and bizarre Irish political insults of the last 100 years. In part one of this catalogue of mudslinging, the Irish Civil War dominates. In the second of the two-part series, the civil war is well in the past, but Irish politicians are still roaring at each other.

Hugh Ormond, Head of Podcasting said:

After the success of Diarmaid and Catriona's special series on the history of the Presidency, we are delighted to launch What Were We Like as a weekly podcast, which will bring Irish history to a whole new audience. Their humour, knowledge and storytelling is a perfect mix for history podcast listeners and anyone with an interest in our past.

Next week, What Were We Like will release the first episode in a series on the history of Fianna F il, From the Civil War to the Crash'.

What Were We Like episodes will be available every Monday on the RT Radio Player, wherever you get your podcasts (including Apple & Spotify), and at rte.ie/podcasts, making it easily accessible to audiences at home and abroad.
