WRAL-TV's Brian Shrader Announces Newscast Move

WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Brian Shrader made a big announcement on Friday, April 19, 2024. After 16 years as morning traffic anchor, Shrader will be moving to evenings on WRAL. He will be taking over tracking breaking news in the WRAL Live Center during the evening and late newscasts.

I'm really looking forward to SLEEPING, but I'm really going to miss my morning family, said Shrader. I've spent several hours every day with Elizabeth Gardner for all these years, sharing the good, the bad and the in-betweens of life. She's my buddy. I'm going to miss all the laughs with Renee, Jeff, Michelle, Ken and the rest of our crew in the morning. I wouldn't have done this for so many years if it wasn't fun and they made it fun!

Shrader's move includes a few more changes in the anchor lineup. WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Ken Smith will take over the morning traffic, and WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Chris Lovingood will move to mornings.

I'm so grateful to all you early birds who have welcomed me into your morning routine since October 2007, Shrader told viewers as he made the announcement. I hope to see you in the evenings on WRAL News at 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11 p.m., starting next week!

Shrader starts in his new role on Tuesday, April 23.
