Video Consolidation Platform selected for dramatically improving efficiency, flexibility and scalability of video network architectures
STOCKHOLM - Nov. 12, 2014 - Edgeware, the leader in video delivery networks, today announces it has been named a winner in this year's Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition. Edgeware's Video Consolidation Platform (VCP) received the top honor in the Cable & Video Network Architecture category.
The Fierce Innovation Awards recognize the most innovative solutions on the market for operators to overcome network challenges, cut costs, increase revenue and provide the video quality their customers demand and expect. This is exactly what we set out to do with the development of our VCP, said Joachim Roos, CEO at Edgeware. This win proves that our novel approach to consolidated video delivery meets operators' need for an architecture that offers the scalability, agility and quality of experience (QoE) required in today's rapidly evolving and competitive landscape.
Edgeware's VCP is a single, consolidated platform that dramatically reduces the high infrastructure costs associated with the delivery of TV and video services to both set-top boxes (STBs) and multiscreen devices. By enabling operators to efficiently deliver new and current services at massive scale to all device types, without having to manage duplicate, siloed delivery networks, it reduces capex by at least 50 percent. The VCP builds on Edgeware's widely deployed operator CDN solution, the D-VDN, which already provides more than 10 million viewers worldwide with best-in-class caching and streaming. The VCP also extends the solution to include state-of-the-art origin servers, called the VCP Origin.
Finalists' applications were judged by an exclusive carrier-only panel of executives from AT&T, CableLabs, Cablevision System Corporation, Comcast, Cox Communications, Inc., Orange, Sprint, TeliaSonera International Carrier, and Verizon. All applications were evaluated based on the following criteria: technology innovation, financial impact, market validation, compatibility with existing networks, end-user customer experience, and overall level of innovation.
