Open International Forum for Vocational Education held in Ningbo

The first Open International Forum for Vocational Education (Ningbo, China) as well as the annual meeting for the Specialized Committee for Urban Vocational Education of China Vocational and Technical Education Institute was held in Ningbo on November 4, attracting over 200 experts from the vocational education domain and other distinguished guests from the related associations from China, the UK, the US, Germany, Australia and South Korea.

The theme of this years forum is "coordinated development between vocational education and industries". At the forum, Ningbo Education Bureau signed the cooperation memorandum with the Steinbeis Transfer Center and the UK Education Network. Ningbo Polytechnic signed a cooperation memorandum with York College of the UK. Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology signed the cooperation memorandum with South Tyneside College and City College Plymouth of the UK. Ningbo Foreign Affairs School signed the cooperation memorandum with Hankum University of Foreign Studies from South Korea.

As is known, Ningbo has placed great attention in developing its vocational education as an important part for the citys internationalization, and has so far established a group of Sino-foreign cooperative projects for vocational education, such as the Sino-UK College of Fashion and Design and the TAFE College. Ningbo Foreign Affairs School and Deva Art School of Romania jointly established the Sino-Romanian International Art School, and Ningbo Polytechnic set up the Sino-African (Benin) Vocational and Technical Training College, in joint efforts with the CERCO College of Benin and some other related enterprises from China. Four years ago, Ningbo becomae the first reform testing zone for international education cooperation and exchange recognized by China Education Ministry. In 2013, Ningbo became the state pilot for coordinated innovation between vocational education and industries. In May 2015, Ningbo reached an agreement with China Education Science Institute to jointly build the state-level open demonstration zone for modern vocational education.
