Summer is right around the corner and wedding season is in full swing. Know someone who's tying the knot this year? Here are some tips and tricks for capturing their big day with GoPro-ensuring that the wedding remains truly unforgettable.
Get Stealthy
A wedding is already full of stress and distractions; the last thing that we want to do is add more while documenting it. As such, it's important to remain inconspicuous. Fortunately, getting stealthy is easy to do with GoPro.
The Session is ideal for these situations because of its black color; thanks to its small size and cubic shape it can fit almost anywhere. Using a blackout case can help up the stealth factor on the larger HERO4 Silver or Black as well.
There are a couple of settings that can help your GoPro to remain inconspicuous too. Turn off beeps to keep the noise down, and turn off the flashing LED indicators to prevent drawing further attention.

Once you've got your settings dialed, find clever ways to mount your GoPro that don't draw attention. Is the minister wearing a black suit? Stick a Chesty on him with a Session or HERO4 & Blackout Housing to capture the bride and groom's vows and first kiss. It'll be virtually undetectable by the bridal party-as well as the audience.
Find Unique Perspectives
There are a ton of different interactions and perspectives shared on wedding day; each one is an opportunity to capture something meaningful and unique. Don't know where to begin? Start by breaking the day down categorically.
Try mounting a GoPro on the makeup artist using the Headstrap to capture a unique perspective while the bride is getting ready. Use The Strap to mount a Session on a can of hairspray that's being used. Or a champagne bottle that's being passed around during the groomsmen's limo ride to the ceremony.
Is the bride or groom's young brother or nephew bearing the rings? Stick a kid's Chesty
on him (worn underneath his shirt) to capture his perspective of the ceremony. Have a pet dog who's as much a part of the family as anyone else? Mount Fetch on him to see the wedding through dog eyes. These are just a couple of examples to get you started. What other perspectives could you discover and share?
Be a Part of the Action
What makes GoPro unique is its ability to capture action in a way that's totally immersive for not just the viewer, but for the camera user as well-allowing them to fully be a part of the moment.
How can you apply this to shooting a wedding? One of the most vibrant, exciting, and memorable moments is the dancing. Once the formalities are over, strap on a Chesty or head-mount to capture a first-person perspective of the party's moves-while busting out a few of your own. The footage will be awesome; if you're in the company of friends, they'll be happy that you're a part of the moment.
Bring it to Life with Splice and Quik
So, you've just captured tons of great footage from the wedding-but what to do now? Don't let those files just sit there collecting dust-bring them to life using GoPro's mobile creative suite of Splice and Quik.
Quik is fun and easy to use-in just seconds, you can turn your photos and clips into incredible videos perfectly edited to your chosen soundtrack, as it automatically analyzes your footage to find the best moments, adds transitions and effects, and syncs it all to the beat of the music.
If you want more manual control, you can use Splice to transform your GoPro or iPhone footage into fully customized, professional-looking videos-in just minutes. Splice is like a desktop editor, but right there on your mobile device.
When you're finished, upload directly to YouTube or social media and share with the bride and groom. It's that easy.
GoPro empowers you to capture the most unique, fun, and memorable moments from life; there's not a better way to record the big wedding day. These are just a few tips to get you started, but the possibilities are endless. The rest is up to you.
