Tammy Taylor Nails SA founder and reality star Mel Viljoen showed viewers a softer side to her on this week's episode of the Real Housewives van Pretoria which aired on KykNet on Thursday 29 December.

MEL VILJOEN ON SELLING PANCAKES AS A CHILD Melany Mel Viljoen has been labelled the mean girl on the Real Housewives van Pretoria (RHOPTA) by Twitter users. However, the reality star showed viewers some vulnerability and a softer side on the latest episode of the Afrikaans reality series this week.
Mel was whipping up some pancakes to take to their Market Day at Renske Lammerding's house.

Peet I was nine years old when I went door to door selling pancakes, she said.
Mel revealed that she grew up with her mom, stepfather and two half-brothers. She explained that her stepfather spoiled her two brothers by giving them money and she also wanted money to buy her own sweets. So, she started making pancakes and selling them to make her own spending money.
I grew up with a stepfather. And my stepfather and my mother had two children together. My two half brothers. And they were spoiled by my stepfather. So, I noticed the two guys were getting money and I didn't, and I wanted to go buy sweets for myself as well, she said.
And so I decided to make money by selling pancakes, she continued.

THE REALITY STAR ON PAYING HER OWN SCHOOL FEES IN HER FINAL YEAR Mel also revealed that she worked at a pizza place to be able to pay for her fees while in her final year of school. The Tammy Taylor Nails SA founder revealed that since she was younger people have seen her as someone they could lean on, abuse and ask for money.
When I was approximately 16 or 17, I decided I needed to go on my own. I would work and pay my own school fees. So, I finished my final year and actually paid for myself so I worked at a pizza shop in the evenings and attended school during the day, she said.
You're actually very lucky if you have a roof over your head, you're fortunate if you have parents who have the ability to make your life easier, she continued.
