Nelvana begins production on popular book series Trucktown
Treehouse channel picks up brand new boys preschool series
Corus Entertainment's Nelvana Studio has announced start of production on a brand new boys preschool CGI animated series Trucktown, based on a series of wildly popular children's books. Forty x half hour episodes have been greenlit with delivery set for spring 2014. Corus Entertainment's Treehouse, Canada's #1 24-hour preschool channel, is the first broadcaster to pick up the brand new series.
Trucktown, which follows the playful adventures of a group of rough and tumble young trucks, is based on a successful series of bestselling books by renowned children's author Jon Scieszka (The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fairly Stupid Tales, The Time Warp Trio, Spaceheadz) and published by Simon & Schuster, which includes over 50 titles and has sold more than 1 million books.
We're delighted to be bringing the world of Trucktown, which has engaged millions of kids through the books, to life on screen, says said Colin Bohm, Managing Director, Nelvana Enterprises. The boisterous characters and rollicking action that Jon Scieszka created for the page has a proven track record, which the series will be able to introduce to even more kids and families.
The action centers around Jack Truck and his best friends Dump Truck Dan and Max the Monster Truck and the rest of the truck gang as they roar, romp and power their way through Trucktown. This group of friends have never met a wall they couldn't smash or a road or bridge they couldn't build and smash again. Filled with good old-fashioned fun, Trucktown tells big stories that capture the big personalities of the trucks that live there.
Trucktown embraces the excitement of playing together on the playground, with a lot of noise and rambunctious fun, said Ted Ellis, Vice President, Programming, Kids and Family. We're excited to add a series to the Treehouse schedule that is turbo-charged to connect with boys.
