Ningbo s Foreign Trade Volume Reached 557.7 Billion Yuan in the First Mons

According to Ningbo Customs, the foreign trade volume from January to November in 2015 dropped 4.9 percent year-on-year to 557.7 billion Yuan. During these 11 months, exports dropped 3.5 percent year-on-year to 396.07 billion Yuan, while imports continued to contract -- with a year-on-year decrease of 4.9 percent -- to 161.7 billion Yuan.

The foreign trade volume in November dropped 5.1% to 48.79 billion Yuan. In November, exports dropped 8.8 percent year-on-year to 33.73 billion Yuan, while imports increased by 4.2 percent -- to 15.06 billion Yuan.

Since January 2015, Ningbo's total trade volume decreased partly because of the exchange rate of RMB and the dropped prices of resource products. The trade of 2015 contracted compared with the same period of 2014 while the total foreign trade volume still keeps stable. The turnaround of imports in November shows that Ningbo's foreign trade in 2016 will be more stabilized.

General trade is the main trading pattern in Ningbo's import & export market and has generated 454.87 billion Yuan from January to November, down 2.2% , amounting for 81.6% of the total foreign trade volume in this period. Private enterprises took up a higher percentage in Ningbo's foreign trade market and generated 337.97 billion Yuan with an increase of 0.9% year-on-year, which takes up 60.6% of the total foreign trade volume in this period.

Ningbo's top 2 trading partners are still European Union and United States. The trading volume with European Union and United States is 117.48 billion Yuan and 98.23 billion Yuan, dropped by 5.8% and increased by 2.6% respectively. The trading volume with them accounted for 38.7% of Ningbo's total foreign trade volume in this period. As China-Korea Free Trade Agreement and China-Australia Free Trade Agreement will come into effect soon, from January to November, the trade volume with Korea increased by 5.6% to 25.18 billion Yuan, among which exports increased by 1.5% to 10.59 billion Yuan and the trade volume with Australia dropped by 5.6% to 23.7 billion Yuan, among which exports increased by 1.5% to 11.3 billion Yuan

The main imported goods were electromechanical products and raw materials of plastics. In addition, the imports of agricultural products hit a record high by reaching 5.6 billion Yuan, up 44.1%. The main exports were electromechanical products and labor-intensive products.
