NOA's JobDB 4.0 Adds Comprehensive Video Ingest Capabilities for Legacy Content 19 Aug 2014

NOA Audio Solutions (IBC 8.D91) will launch JobDB 4.0 at IBC 2014. The new version includes video ingest capabilities for the first time, allowing JobDB users to benefit from the video functionality available in NOA's FrameLector, MediaButler Video and the VideoFileAnalyser, without having to crossgrade to the full MediArc system.

The upgrade to JobDB also means that service providers or archives with existing third-party MAM systems can now use JobDB system as a cost-effective way to migrate large video archives.

JobDB 4.0 contains the necessary infrastructure to support ingestLINE FrameLector, actLINE MediaButler for Video together with the actLINE VideoFileAnalyser.

To accommodate typical workflows, digitization and inspection of the digitized material can be distributed flexibly thanks to NOA's client-server architecture, in a manner similar to the widely-implemented worldwide standard for audio ingest. Legacy material on video tape can be migrated rapidly through large-scale parallel ingest within jobDB. The RF traces produced by FrameLector help to identify problematic transfers on a dedicated workstation, without the need to visually inspect every video digitization.

JobDB 4.0 requires an MSSQL server, the clients, including the integrated viewer, are able to run on simple Windows 7 workstations. To accommodate video ingest, existing JobDB systems require increased temporary storage and faster I/O: typically a Windows storage server with a few extra Terabytes.

Adding these new video capabilities gives the installed base of JobDB users a whole new way of using their archiving infrastructure, and getting digitised legacy video content into existing MAMs, said Christophe Kummer, CEO of NOA Audio Solutions.
