ACTORS DIGESTING SAD NEWS The talented actress Ingrid Paulus, who's been playing Vanessa since the inception of 7de Laan tells the publication that most of the actors found out on Monday, 17 July.

Paulus adds she's extremely sad, and she's still processing the news but knows that all good things come to an end. She also believes that there is life after 7de Laan.

It has been an amazing 23 years working on the show. Being part of the show taught me a lot about acting. I always thought I knew how to act but I have been learning every day in these 23 years. I even learnt from the young actors who are coming into the industry.

Shaka Ilembe actress Nobuhle Mahlasela, who plays businesswoman Aggie Ngwenya in the SABC2 soapie tells the publication that she's still trying to process the news.

Mahlasela adds there's a sense of sadness because people won't have work because everyone knows the industry is very difficult and hopes Hope people will find other opportunities because most of the cast members are breadwinners. She's also optimistic that they will find work and be able to still provide for their families.

SABC CONFIRMS 7DE LAAN' CANCELLATION Jacaranda FM confirmed on Monday, 17 July that SABC 2 and Danie Odendaal Productions announced that the long-running popular soapie 7de Laan will not be recommissioned for another season when season 24 comes to an end in December 2023.

7de Laan's executive producer Thandi Ramathesele said in a statement that the show that touched the lives of many South Africans for over two decades is ending.

As we come to the end of this chapter, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated cast and crew who have poured their talent and passion into bringing the show to life.

Lala Tuku, who is the Head of Content for Video Entertainment for SABC confirmed 7de Laan cancellation and revealed to TshisaLIVE that SABC is proud to have worked with Danie Odendaal Productions.

Tuku added that the production company has been part of the journey leading and producing the best Afrikaans soapie on local television for SABC2.
