HighSchoolOT managing editor Nick Stevens named soccer media representative of the year

The N.C. Soccer Coaches Association announced that HighSchoolOT managing editor Nick Stevens has been named the organization's Media Representative of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year.

The award is given out at the end of each year to a media representative who covers high school soccer in North Carolina.

The NCSCA will hold an awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon at Grimsley High School for all-state soccer players and other award winners.

We have a great team at HighSchoolOT that puts in a lot of hard work, and this award speaks more to that than anything else. I have the benefit of leading a talented team, Stevens said. Thank you to the soccer coaches in North Carolina for their recognition. We are looking forward to continuing to grow our coverage of all sports, including soccer.

Stevens, a native of Raleigh, has covered high school sports in North Carolina since 2006, launching HighSchoolOT at Capitol Broadcasting Company in August 2008. Since the launch, HighSchoolOT has expanded to cover the entire state of North Carolina.

In addition to winning the NCSCA Media Representative of the Year, Stevens was named the N.C. High School Athletic Association Media Representative of the Year in 2018.

Stevens also won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award in 2018 for Excellence in Innovation for the creation of HighSchoolOT Live. HighSchoolOT was part of a second Regional Edward R. Murrow Award in 2022.

HighSchoolOT contributor J. Mike Blake is one of the past NCSCA Media Representative of the Year Award winners. Blake won the award in 2013-2014 and again in 2017-2018. Blake was also named the NCHSAA Media Representative of the Year in 2022.
