WRAL-TV Launches New Podcast

Debuting this week, WRAL Daily Download is the first daily, original podcast from WRAL News. Each episode features an in-depth conversation on a single topic. Several WRAL journalists will share hosting duties; WRAL-TV Reporters Amanda Lamb, Travis Fain, Julian Grace and Jack Hagel will be the regular hosts.

These hosts will interview other WRAL reporters and experts on topics ranging from politics to weather and health to local events. Each podcast features a deep-dive conversation that gives listeners more understanding of the big stories that matter in the Triangle.

Episodes are around 20 minutes long and are available every weekday morning by 4:30am.

I am really excited to launch a podcast with this format, said Corp Director of Podcast Operations Anita Normanly. This type of audio reporting gives us the opportunity to deliver the WRAL News brand to a new audience. It's also a great way to get WRAL News viewers who haven't listened podcasts to check them out for the first time.

Corp Podcast Managing Editor Rachel McCarthy has led the charge in crafting the sound and content of the podcast. WRAL-TV Enterprise Executive Producer Ashley Talley oversees the editorial direction.

This is also a great example of cross-divisional teamwork, said Normanly. In addition to all the newsroom staff involved, WRAL-FM Air Personality Doug Miller provides the finishing touches with audio mixing.
