NAB 2026: Sennheiser Group to Exhibit with Spectera and AMBEO Updates

The Sennheiser Group will exhibit at NAB Show 2026 (Booth 4931, Central Hall), with demonstrations from Sennheiser, Neumann, and Merging across three areas: Reliable Integration, Connection, and Future and Innovation. Partner SoundBase will also demonstrate new features in its RF planning and control application.

Spectera API

Spectera firmware v1.3.0 includes the OpenAPI specification 17.0 for the Spectera Base Station, enabling integration into control systems, monitoring dashboards, and production workflows via the SSCv2 interface. The booth will demonstrate Spectera API integration with the Bitfocus Companion and Buttons app for instrument switching and engineer mode control in live and touring setups.

API access is not a nice-to-have, rather it's essential for an ecosystem that is to thrive in user environments and workflows, says Benedikt Euen, Senior Product Manager, Spectera, Sennheiser. It opens Spectera for all those ingenious operators and automation enthusiasts out there, who are eager to create customized workflows, for manufacturers seeking integration with their own devices, and for programmers creating audio plug-ins or other software.

Spectera Software Changes

Sennheiser has announced it will discontinue LinkDesk development beyond version 1.6.0. SoundBase will become the recommended on-premise software for Spectera, covering LinkDesk features and adding multi-system, multi-vendor management. Spectera WebUI will remain the on-device software for individual Base Stations.

Ample feedback from our user community has shown a clear preference for Spectera WebUI over LinkDesk, and also a high interest in SoundBase for advanced multi-system, multi-vendor management, says Euen. We have therefore decided to not continue LinkDesk development beyond version 1.6.0, and have SoundBase put a focus on the integration of Spectera to cover all LinkDesk features in the future. This will make SoundBase the first brand-agnostic application that is able to coordinate both narrowband and wideband wireless, while Spectera WebUI remains the workhorse for individual Base Stations.

Spectera Regional Availability

Spectera now offers activation licenses for Taiwan (LIC ZONE 15), Brazil (LIC ZONE 16, with Anatel certification), and a trial license for Mainland China (LIC ZONE 17). Allowed frequencies in the 1.4 GHz band for LIC ZONE 1 (EU, EFTA, UK, Turkey) have been expanded to include 1492-1525 MHz in addition to 1350-1400 MHz. Firmware v1.3.0 also adds AFTRCC e-key handling for 1.4 GHz systems in the USA.

Spectera Rental Finder

A new Spectera Rental Finder tool is available on the Sennheiser website, allowing users to locate Spectera rental systems worldwide via a scrollable map.

NAB Session

Joe Ciaudelli will present Wireless Microphone Operation for Mega-Events in the 1435-1525 MHz Band on Saturday, April 18, 2:10-2:30 p.m., Room N256. The session covers broadcast use of the 1.4 GHz band for wireless microphones and in-ears at events including the Super Bowl, World Series, and Academy Awards, along with FCC regulations and eligibility requirements. Applicants must hold an FCC Part 74 license.

The AMBEO Zone will feature the file-based AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio Renderer for VOD and catalog content, available for on-premises and cloud-based processing. The real-time AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio Broadcast Renderer encodes immersive and surround audio into a 2.0 stream in real time, demonstrated on the Neumann MT 48 for integration into AES67, ST 2110, or Dante environments. The zone will also feature the Neumann VIS visionOS application for spatial mix visualization using Apple Vision Pro.
