Babar To Be Featured At Paris' Colette Store With an Exclusive Collection From Danish Design Company Soulland

(Toronto, Ontario) Nelvana Enterprises and The Clifford Ross Company are pleased to announce that an exclusive collection of Babar menswear from Danish design company Soulland will be featured at the colette shop in Paris starting on April 1, 2013.

Babar, the world-famous elephant in the legendary green suit has an 80-year history, originating in the 1930s after Ccile de Brunhoff invented a bedtime story for her two sons: a tale of a little elephant living in the jungle whose mother was killed by a hunter. Her husband, Jean de Brunhoff, saw how enraptured their sons were by the story, and decided to create an illustrated book about it and name d the elephant Babar. When Jean passed away at the young age of 37, his son, Laurent, who studied at the same art academy as his father, built on Jeans work, creating many bestselling adventures for the elephant family.

Today, Babar continues to reign as the King of childrens literature.The lovable elephant has been featured in books published in 17 languages with more than 13 million copies sold worldwide, as well as multiple TV series and specials, and even a feature-length film.

Babar also had a well celebrated 80th anniversary in Paris last year at the Muse des Arts Dcoratifs in the exhibition Les Histoires de Babar (The Story of Babar).

Babars vintage and retro style arrives at colette stores through young Danish designer, Silas Alder, CEO of Soulland, who has developed a Babar menswear collection for Spring 2013. Based on Jean de Brunoffs drawings, this collection is comprised of shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts and shorts.

I have been a fan of Babar and his universe since I was four years old, so it was a great honor being able to work on this collaboration, said Silas Adler. I was particularly inspired by a story from the first book, where Babar goes to the tailor to get his first suit - a bright green suit.

The Babar line will be exclusive at colette, starting on April 1, 2013, and the stores window will be dedicated to Babar from April 1 to 6. The collection will be available through the spring and summer.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., there will be a special Babar event at the store, featuring various activities and the opportunity to meet and greet the Babar mascot.

As well, colettes famous water bar will become Water Babar with decorations dedicated to the famous elephant.

The Babar/Soulland collection is developed and distributed exclusively by colette and will soon be available in other shops such as Opening Ceremony (in New York and Los Angeles), Goodhood (in London), Hunting & Collecting (in Brussels), Soto et Voo (in Berlin) and others.
