Award-winning actor Sicelo Buthelezi has joined Skeem Saam as Tobias Toby Maswahla.

The character of Evelyn Maswahla is played by award-winning actress and TV personality Vele Manenje.

Skeem Saam viewers predict Evelyn is Tobias' mother as she once mentioned having a son when she was dating Wallet.

Manenje revealed to The Citizen in 2021 that Evelyn hails from Ga-Mothiba and she's strange when people first meet her.

Hailing from Ga-Mothiba, Evelyn is a former schoolteacher who is intelligent and well spoken. She is also a zealous reader with a fondness for poetry and meets a man with whom she forms a deep, romantic connection, the statement read.

Evelyn is currently the deputy principal at Turfloop Highschool in the popular soapie.

Toby' is a university student with a mischievous streak who gets expelled and is forced to move to Turfloop after causing some serious trouble back in Johannesburg.

Having joined the Skeem Saam family has been amazing. It's a different environment but it feels like home. I'm enjoying it.

Viewers will meet Tobias Maswahla on Tuesday, 2 April as a university student who got expelled and is forced to move to Turfloop.

SABC reports that his character turns over a new leaf, starts attending Turfloop University and even gets a part time job.

The actor is popularly known for his teenage character, Teddy in Mzansi Magic's canned telenovela, Gomora.

He first appeared in the premiere in March 2020 and won the award for Outstanding Newcomer at the fourth Royalty Soapie Awards.
