Scripps Sports and Ally Financial are partnering with the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) to broadcast its first game on national linear television in the United States. The PWHL Takeover Tour game between the New York Sirens and the Montreal Victoire will air on ION, The E.W. Scripps Company's national sports and entertainment network, Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m. ET, live from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Through ION - available free over-the-air, via pay TV, connected TV and free, ad-supported streaming platforms - the game will reach more than 126 million U.S. households.
The broadcast comes as the PWHL enters its third season, approaching 2 million all-time fans and reporting a 20% year-over-year increase in average attendance. Sixty-one PWHL players competed at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, returning with 41 medals, including Team USA's overtime gold medal victory over Canada. The league is currently in a 16-game Takeover Tour.
Scripps Sports has previously carried women's sports on ION, including creating dedicated franchise nights for the WNBA and NWSL, presenting weekly national doubleheaders for both leagues, and launching dedicated studio shows for each. ION currently broadcasts more WNBA games and more NWSL matches than any other national broadcaster, along with Athlos 2026 and the Major League Volleyball Championships this May.
Ally is the presenting sponsor of both the telecast and the Takeover Tour game. The company's previous investments in women's sports include moving the NWSL Championship game to primetime broadcast for the first time (2022), launching the Ally Tipoff women's college basketball event (2023), increasing the purse for the U.S. Women's Open to the highest in women's golf history (2024), and becoming a founding partner of Unrivaled, the professional women's 3-on-3 basketball league (2025).
