ITN Productions to produce discovery+ Original hosted by The Wolf of Wall Street' Jordan Belfort

ITN Productions has been commissioned by Discovery to produce a 1 60 fast turnaround special GameStop: The Wall Street Hijack (wt) to be hosted by The Wolf of Wall Street' Jordan Belfort. The documentary explores the story of how a group of amateur traders played the Wall Street pros at their own game. It premieres on discovery in the UK on April 8th and internationally this year.

In January of 2021, amidst all the political and pandemic news coverage, the story of GameStop and it's skyrocketing stock price hit headlines. What had caused the struggling videogame retailer's shares to climb through the roof overnight? Enter a group of young, risk-embracing day traders who were using social media to organise a massive stock buy-up This was a financial play' that shook the world's markets and exposed the shared fiction of The Stock Market itself.

Narrated by The Wolf of Wall Street' Jordan Belfort, who built one of the most successful firms in Wall Street history, this is the GameStop story from a man who understands exactly what happened, and why. In a series of vignettes, Jordan will track the timeline of what happened in layman's terms, and why we all need to pay attention. The special will also feature insider accounts from those at the centre of GameStop: The Wall Street Hijack.

In the 1990s, Jordan Belfort built one of the most successful firms in Wall Street History, earning the nickname The Wolf of Wall Street'. Until it all came crashing down in 1999, when he pled guilty to securities fraud and money laundering and served 22 months in prison. Now - in an irony he fully appreciates - Jordan is seen as a Wall Street Expert'.
