From 8 September to 30 September The T3 presents a full time Production Assistant Training Course which will run in Cape Town at The Farm Film Production from Monday to Friday, between 08h30 and 16h00.

The course is specifically designed to equip emerging filmmakers with the ability to walk onto a set with confidence. Training includes set etiquette, crew hierarchy, safety, the functions of each department, an overview of equipment used by each department, film terminology and the role of a runner/production assistant.

Course content is compiled by seasoned film lecturers currently working as heads of their respective departments and is both theoretical as well as practical, including visits to rental companies and working sets. Whilst the course is not accredited (as per MICT SETA) it is fully endorsed by the CPA and accreditation will be pursued subsequent to the completion of the first course

Students will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence, which will include work sheets / tests, as well as notes. On completion of the lecture phase students will need to complete at least one day on four different shoots with department heads providing feedback and a rating of their performance. During this practical segment students will not be remunerated, however the production would be expected to provide catering and possible assistance with transport.

Requirements

Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, in possession of Grade 12 certification, have a cell phone and airtime and show a keen interest in the film industry as a career.

All potential candidates will be interviewed and screened prior to acceptance for one of the fairly limited number of open spots.

The cost of the course is R3 000 inclusive, however there are a limited number of bursaries available for worthy candidates with limited financial resources.

The Farm Film Production is situated on the Ground Floor at 61 Loop Street Cape Town.
