Update to the Picturepark Content Platform Adds Suppo...

Aarau, Switzerland 3rd May 2019 Swiss content system provider Picturepark today announced the general availability of their May 2019 update to the Picturepark Content Platform. The update provides support for circular references that permit the creation of better data models and addresses improvements in UX, permissions, search behaviour and the batch editor, among others.

Circular references are needed for data models when one object references another object and vice-versa. For instance, a user may have an image of a person who should show up as the CEO of an organization. Yet at the same time, the user would also want that organization to also show up for the CEO too, marked as their employer.

Coming from a relational database or software component design, developers or data designers tend to avoid circular references for good reason , says Stefan Bader, Picturepark's Director of Engineering. With Picturepark technology those who want to build sophisticated data relationships following a document based approach, for instance those shown on schema.org and supported by the JSON Schema standards, can now do so with all the freedom they need.

Administrators will be provided with features that simplify the configuration and maintenance of the system. As an example of this, the automated creation of display patterns based on default values and mandatory fields will now be available to them. Display patterns are particularly useful for providing contextual information to users, via the use of tooltips and other means.

An example of one area that regular users will benefit from includes easier access to an advanced query mode for searching for content or list items by using what is known as the Lucene query syntax, which among others supports Boolean operators such as AND , NOT , OR, among others. Picturepark also expect editors to find it more convenient to use the powerful batch editor for content and list items, which now also supports parent-child metadata layers constructs.

The May 2019 Update of the Picturepark Content Platform was made generally available to both customers and partners on May 3rd, 2019. The complete release notes are available online.
