Station Groups Look Beyond Traditional MAMs in Order to Extract Maximum Value from Investments in Content Capture and Creation
TORONTO, Canada-January 15, 2014-Masstech Group, whose solutions enable media companies to save, share and transform content, today announced that its Masstech for News system is being deployed at more than 50 U.S. TV stations spanning station groups that together account for approximately 20 percent of U.S. news operations.
The Masstech for News solution, which was first introduced at NAB 2013, enables news operations to more effectively re-use and re-purpose their valuable content by:
- automating content archiving and lowering the costs and fees associated with content retention and scaling over time
- simplifying search and restore operations by integrating them into the native newsroom computer systems (NRCS) journalists are already familiar with
- eliminating technical barriers users face when trying to move content between legacy MAM systems, production systems, and newsroom computers

Masstech for News allows journalists to automatically archive, access, share and use a company's content directly from within popular newsroom system interfaces, including Associated Press ENPS, Avid iNEWS and Ross Inception. Direct integration within NRCS interfaces and other production system provides users with direct, disruption-free access to video and text content stored locally, remotely, or produced by third party agencies. The unique Video follows Text advantage allows all elements of a story, including text, metadata and media, to be transferred seamlessly with just a single drag-and-drop action between locations, production servers and even different newsroom systems. Automated transcoding ensures that content is always in the correct format as media moves from the archive, through production and out for distribution.
