Audi A8L - the One and Only

Lucky Fish Productions recently completed the new Audi A8 commercial, The One and Only for Dubai based agency Tonic International. The commercial was directed by Gil Bauwens of Belgium who has filmed in South Africa on many occasions and is represented by Platon Trakoshis of Lucky Fish in South Africa.

The production started off as a Middle Eastern commercial by Dubai based agency, Tonic International with Alexis Roberts as Agency Producer, with an Arabic character and a European looking character. But as the project developed many other countries, including Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, and India jumped on board and a number of versions were made including the version being screened on South African TV at the moment. The success of the previous Audi A8 commercial Always First Class which Gil directed with Lucky Fish, kept the clients eyes on him and helped expand the distribution of the commercial to so many more countries making it an international commercial.

Gil has directed a number of South African commercials including Goodyear with DJ Fresh and Hi-Q and has an excellent relationship with South African crew and rates their expertise highly. Platon Trakoshis says It is always a pleasure working with Gil Bauwens, he is an incredible talent and his attention to detail and his fresh look on visuals is always astounding.

Peter Tischhauser was the cinematographer and editing was done by Morn Jacobsz at The Bridge. The car was shot in studio, then comped by Searle Street Post's lead flame artist Udesh Chetty into the garage. The garage interiors were entirely created in 3D by Arri Reschke of Lung Animation. Extensive matte paintings were used to create the exterior shot. Look out for the massive garage doors - another piece of 3D that was never actually there. Searle Street Post also replaced most of the skies and worked their trickery on the 3D sculpture in the lounge.
