The EIB grants to Cellnex a loan of 100 million for development of mobile infrastructure El apoyo del Banco Europeo de Inversiones, bajo la garant a del Plan Juncker, contribuir a la construcci n de nuevas torres de telecomunicaciones y de conexiones a las redes de los operadores m viles por medio de fibra ptica y de radio enlaces.
El Banco Europeo de Inversiones (BEI) y Cellnex Telecom han firmado un acuerdo para el desarrollo de nuevas inversiones que permitir n mejorar e incrementar la capacidad de las infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones m viles de banda ancha en Espa a e Italia. El apoyo del BEI, a trav s de una financiaci n de 100 millones de euros, contribuir a la construcci n de nuevas torres de telecomunicaciones y de conexiones a las redes de los operadores m viles por medio de fibra ptica y de radio enlaces. El acuerdo cuenta con el apoyo del Fondo Europeo para Inversiones Estrat gicas (FEIE, EFSI por sus siglas en ingl s), el pilar central del Plan de Inversiones para Europa, conocido como Plan Juncker.
En concreto, Cellnex prev desplegar nuevos emplazamientos para telecomunicaciones en entornos rurales y urbanos, as como nodos de los llamados sistemas distribuidos de antena (DAS en su acr nimo en ingl s), que se localizar an en puntos de alta concentraci n de demanda de comunicaciones m viles de banda ancha. Estas nuevas infraestructuras permitir n a los operadores mejorar la cobertura y la capacidad de sus redes.
La financiaci n del BEI tambi n contribuir a adaptar emplazamientos existentes para ampliar su capacidad y permitir, de esta forma, que sean compartidos por varios operadores. Esta optimizaci n en la utilizaci n de las infraestructuras evitar la duplicidad de las torres de telefon a.
Las inversiones financiadas por el BEI ser n adem s cruciales para preparar a las redes de m viles para la llegada del 5G, puesto que esta tecnolog a requiere muchos m s emplazamientos que el 4G, aunque de menor tama o. De esta forma, el acuerdo contribuir a cumplir con la Agenda Europea Digital, uno de cuyos objetivos es que en 2020 al menos una ciudad de cada Estado miembro de la UE pueda ofrecer el servicio 5G.
El apoyo del Plan de Inversiones para Europa ha permitido al BEI facilitar a Cellnex la financiaci n a largo plazo necesaria para asegurar la implementaci n del proyecto en los plazos establecidos. La garant a del Plan Juncker permite al BEI facilitar fondos para apoyar inversiones que, por su estructura o naturaleza, tienen un perfil de riesgo m s elevado y contribuyen a aumentar el crecimiento econ mico y el empleo.
El vicepresidente del BEI, Rom n Escolano, ha asegurado que fomentar las inversiones en innovaci n es una de las prioridades del BEI. El acuerdo que firmamos hoy contribuye a asegurar la modernizaci n de las infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones en Espa a e Italia, unas inversiones que son fundamentales para el futuro desarrollo de la telefon a m vil en Europa. Se trata adem s de un proyecto que tendr un impacto directo y positivo en los ciudadanos, que podr n disponer de una cobertura de telefon a m vil m s amplia y de mayor calidad .
Jyrki Katainen, vicepresidente de la Comisi n Europea responsable de Fomento del Empleo, Crecimiento, Inversi n y Competitividad afirm que en nuestra era cada vez m s digital, necesitamos infraestructuras que apoyen nuestro objetivo de lograr un acceso a internet ultrar pido generalizado y a un precio competitivo para todos los europeos. Acojo con especial entusiamo este proyecto transfronterizo con Cellnex en el marco del Plan de Inversiones, que tendr un efecto tangible en la vida profesional y personal de muchas personas en Espa a e Italia .
Por su parte, el director financiero de Cellnex Telecom, Jos Manuel Aisa, subraya que el pr stamo del BEI combina tres piezas clave, financiaci n a largo plazo con un coste muy competitivo, seguir acompa ando a nuestros clientes en la densificaci n de sus redes e incorporar al BEI como un nuevo socio a largo plazo para seguir potenciando la mejora de las redes de telecomunicaciones en Europa. En este sentido, tambi n celebramos que esta actuaci n conjunta del BEI y de Cellnex, cuente con el apoyo del Fondo Europeo de Inversiones Estrat gicas, en el marco del Plan Juncker, que promueve las inversiones orientadas a impulsar la competitividad y el crecimiento en la Uni n Europea .
El Plan Juncker
El Banco Europeo de Inversiones (BEI) es la instituci n de financiaci n a largo plazo de la Uni n Europea cuyos accionistas son sus Estados miembros. El BEI facilita financiaci n a largo plazo a proyectos de inversi n viables con el fin de contribuir al logro de los objetivos de la pol tica de la UE.
El Plan de Inversiones para Europa, conocido como el Plan Juncker, es una de las prioridades absolutas de la Comisi n Europea. Se centrar en impulsar las inversiones para crear empleo y crecimiento mediante un uso m s inteligente de recursos financieros nuevos y ya disponibles, eliminando obst culos a la inversi n y proporcionando visibilidad y asistencia t cnica a proyectos de inversi n.
El Fondo Europeo para Inversiones Estrat gicas (FEIE) es el principal pilar del Plan Juncker y proporciona garant as a primeras p rdidas, lo cual hace posible que el BEI pueda invertir en m s proyectos que a menudo llevan aparejado un riesgo mayor. Ya se han observado resultados concretos derivados del FEIE. Se prev que los proyectos y acuerdos aprobados para su financiaci n al amparo del FEIE movilicen m s de 250.000 millones de EUR en inversiones y apoyen a cerca de 528.000 pymes de los 28 Estados miembros
