(NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced the Approach S2 GPS golf watch a sleek, stylish golf watch to expand the market leading Approach Series. The S2 comes preloaded with over 30,000 worldwide courses, and is ready to play right out of the box without any subscriptions or fees.
The Approach S2 measures distances to the front, middle and back of the green, in addition to displaying layup and dogleg distances at a glance. The new integrated digital scorecard allows players to keep track of the strokes at any time during the round. The latest member of the Garmin golf range is available in three new colour-versions and offers a fashionable, yet functional design that is sleek enough for everyday wear but also acts as well informed playing partner on courses across the globe for male and female golfers.
The Approach S2 is the perfect companion for the recreational golfer, said Martin Resch, EMEA Product Manager at Garmin. With over 30,000 courses across the world ready to play out of the box matched with the comprehensive measurement features and its intuitive user interface, this device will instantly give golfers a competitive edge.
Improved measurement features: Available in multiple colour options (white/grey, black/red, purple/white), the Approach S2 measures individual shot distances and precise yardage to the front, middle and back of the green. To keep you well informed during your approach the S2 also features layup and dogleg distances at a glance which supports you in getting a better understanding of any course and how to improve your handicap. Enjoy the game don't slow it down: Using S2 you can concentrate 100% on your game no complicated
setup, no searching for the right golf course or specific hole, so your playing partners wont be effected. Before you start to play; just switch on S2, it detects which golf course you are on and even transfers you automatically from one hole to the next. Ensuring youre receiving the correct information for the hole you are on. Just enjoy the game.
Ultra-light and sporty: Weighing a mere 52 Grams, the sleek and athletic design of the S2 allows it to be just as comfortable on the course as it is off. The S2 is rugged, durable and waterproof (to 10m), while its flexible removable bands ensure an enhanced fit and easy replacement for a personalised, sporty look to suit any taste (colorful replacement bands available). With automatic time and date plus an alarm and rechargeable lithium ion battery, golfers will never miss a tee time. For those wanting to track their fitness, there is even an odometer to tell golfers how far they have walked.
Free Worldwide preloaded courses: The S2 can be used anywhere in the world and because over 30,000 worldwide courses are onboard, golfers will never have to worry about data fees nor roaming charges. For golfers traveling, playing unfamiliar courses, or perhaps wanting to simply better understand their regular courses at home, they will be able to improve their score and turn a few heads while doing so with the Approach S2. The S2 also offers lifetime course updates without a subscription or any additional fees. The digital scorecard feature allows for scores to be saved, viewed and analysed via computer. Scores can also be printed, making it easier for golfers to keep a record of their rounds.
The Approach S2 will be available March 2013 and have a suggested retail price of £209 and will be available at specialty golf retailers and golf course pro-shops.
