Daktronics will partner with Rice University and IMG College to provide a new main video display and audio fa ades at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas. An audio fa ade is a unique application of Daktronics freeform LED elements in front of a speaker system.
Rice University will be the second collegiate football venue in the nation to receive this technology and will feature the most square footage of this application at 580 square feet. The installation is slated for this summer to be fully operational for the 2016 college football season.
This new audio and video platform is a game-changer for our fans, Rice Director of Athletics Joe Karlgaard said. It represents a quantum leap forward in the fan experience at Rice Stadium, placing Rice at the forefront of the latest innovations in fan engagement from both a visual and audio standpoint as well as our overall video production capabilities. Our fans have been passionate about the need to dramatically upgrade these areas and we believe this installation is the kind of cutting-edge leap forward one associates with Rice University.
The main video display will measure 29 feet high by 49 feet wide and will feature a 13HD pixel layout for excellent image quality and contrast with wide angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the stadium. It is capable of showing one large image or it can be divided into multiple windows to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
Rice Stadium will also feature two acoustically transparent video displays in front of the venue's speaker systems. These freeform LED stick applications will each measure 29 feet high by 10 feet wide, effectively increasing the main video display size to 29 feet high by 69 feet wide. These displays provide additional video and graphics capabilities in a space commonly used for static mesh signage. They provide flexibility to show multiple sponsorship messages throughout an event or additional graphics to pump up the crowd at key moments during the game.
We're happy to be partnering with Rice University to upgrade the video technology in their football stadium, said Dan Fjeldheim, Daktronics sales representative. The main display will enhance the fan experience at every event and the new audio fa ade over their speaker system will provide an extra element to their game-day production that few schools have today. We're excited to see the completed project making an impact for Rice football games this season.
Lewis and Clark Park Introduces New Daktronics Video Display
Daktronics has been asked by the Sioux City Explorers baseball team to design, manufacture and install a new video display for Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa. The new outfield display was completed in May and is entertaining fans at games this summer.
It has been a true pleasure working with the team from Daktronics, said Matt Adamski, president of the Explorers. From the initial talks with our sales rep through installation and training, we couldn't have had a better partner in putting up our display. The entire Explorers organization and our fans are thrilled to have the new board as a focal point in our stadium.
The display has a 15HD pixel layout and measures approximately 19 feet high by 36 feet wide. It provides excellent image quality and contrast with wide angle visibility and industry-leading environmental protection. It also features variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image across the entire display or also be separated into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replay, game stats and sponsor advertisements.
A decorative backlit panel with the Explorers logo illuminated on both sides was also included with the installation at Mercy Field.
Daktronics appreciates the opportunity to provide our state of the art solution for a new video display at Mercy Field, Home of the Sioux City Explorers, said Matt Warnke, Daktronics sales representative. This new display will provide for an enhanced game-day experience for all in attendance during this season and beyond.
In addition to the equipment installation, the Explorers will receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services. This content will consist of a mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of the team.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
