Spacecom and Israel Aerospace Industries Sign Agreement to Purchase AMOS-6 Communications Satellite for $195 Million

AMOS-6 To Have 16 year life-span for Servicing Middle East, Europe and Africa from 4W Orbital Position: IAI Scheduled to Deliver Satellite by August 2015

Tel Aviv 19 November 2012: Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, announced that it has signed the agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to plan, manufacture, prepare for launch and provide ground control operations for the AMOS-6 satellite. The deal is worth $195 million for the satellite scheduled for launch in 2015. Spacecom president and CEO David Pollack and IAI CEO Yossi Weiss signed the agreement.

AMOS-6 will significantly enlarge offerings at Spacecoms 4W hot spot, current home to the AMOS-2 and AMOS-3 constellation, and will replace AMOS-2 which is scheduled to end its service in 2016. AMOS-6, with a scheduled life-time of 16 years, will also increase territories under service by adding Western Europe and parts of Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. East Coast.

The new satellite will offer 39 Ku-band segments, 24 Ka-band beams, two S-band transformers to provide a wide array of services, have a launch weight of 5,500 Kilograms and utilize power of 9KW. The satellite will be fitted with numerous new technologies including electronic propulsion capabilities to save on weight and cost.

In addition, Spacecom has also signed an agreement with Government of Israel to supply it with various communications services on the AMOS-6 during the satellites life-time. This agreement is worth $20 million.
