Two top professionals launch online screenwriting programme

Two of South Africas most experienced writing professionals have joined forces to design a five-week online crash course in film and television writing, which launches on November 1.

The Crash Course in Screenwriting is one of the most exciting projects Ive been involved in, says Michele Rowe, whose career has morphed from writing for film and television into writing novels, the first of which, What Hidden Lies, won the Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger Award.

Her collaborator is Richard Beynon, award-winning South African script writer, who has worked as head writer on a number of soaps. He currently writes for Isibaya, and is a founder partner of the creative writing school, All About Writing.

The course will be run under the All About Writing umbrella. Ten modules will be issued at half-weekly intervals.

Every module - which covers the gamut of essential skills, from crafting scenes to developing structure - will end with a testing assignment, says Rowe. She and Beynon will give detailed and constructive feedback to each assignment. We promise, says Beynon, to be honest but kind.
