Powerful single-box video server and graphics solution on show at 2016 NAB Show

At NAB (SL2417), Vizrt will demonstrate how its Viz Engine video server and real-time 3D graphics renderer helps media companies futureproof video and graphics playout as well as gain production efficiency for any format including IP. Vizrt has long been an IP pioneer, and now offers an extensive product range that enables content creators to reach new audiences and platforms efficiently with visually interesting content.

Viz Engine is a video playback server that handles video through the entire production process, from ingest to editing to playout. Housed in a single box, the video server functions as a multi-channel playout server for HD and 4K, supporting all formats, while also allowing streaming IP video in and out.

The Viz Engine video server can operate within a standard SDI workflow, and can input from and output to any IP format simultaneously, or render to IP if a broadcaster doesn't have a traditional SDI workflow. This ensures that production workflow investments are maintained as any form of IP stream can be handled.

Viz Engine provides broadcasters and media companies with a compact solution for outputting video and graphics as an IP stream or as SDI, eliminating the need for multiple pieces of hardware, saving costs and space, and providing a more streamlined and flexible production workflow, said Petter Ole Jakobsen, Vizrt CTO.

Vizrt is proud to take part in one of the world's first on-air playout which will be based on ASPEN and conducted in conjunction with Evertz. Vizrt tools will also be used to go on air with a SMPTE 2022-6 solution in the near future.

IP-enabled tools allow broadcasters to exploit IP's efficiency and flexibility while enabling compelling, future-proof storytelling direct to the platforms that consumers are increasingly reaching for, said Jakobsen. These capabilities translate directly into more profits - and happier customers.

The Viz Engine video server and IP-based solutions will be highlighted at Vizrt's press conference at NAB, held Monday, April 18 at their booth (SL2417), 12:00pm.
