It can be said that the storyline that the fans of the show were eagerly waiting for since it started was the Diana story. This arrived in the form of a thrilling fourth season where Emma Corrin gave a moving performance of Diana's early years within the royal family.

The fourth season saw Diana meeting and marrying Charles and struggling with fitting in within the institution and the ever-present problem of Camilla Parker Bowles.

The fifth season saw a more mature yet lonely Diana on the brink of her separation from Prince Charles and the entire royal family. This season saw us move towards the present times as it ended with the divorce between Charles and Diana and her meeting Dodi Al Fayed.

Diana's Ghost in The Crown It is stated that allegedly according to The Sun that Diana will appear as a ghost to both Prince Charles and the queen. These scenes will be played out differently and in a way helping the royals find closure with their history with Diana.

Fact vs Fiction It is obvious that Diana had a strained relationship with her ex-husband. Still, it has been stated by her former butler, Paul Burrel in his book, A Royal Duty, that the two had a positive relationship after their divorce. The relationship between the queen and Diana was also stated to be cordial.

Diana's death in The Crown' There has been a lot of controversy regarding the portrayal of the infamous car accident that not only ended Diana's life but also that of Dodi Al Fayed. The producers have stated that they will treat the accident with the utmost sensitivity

Reaction to Diana's ghost There has been a lot of negative feedback regarding the inclusion of Diana's ghost in the final season of The Crown.

Many royal fans have found it to be insensitive. It is not the first time that the show's producer Peter Morgan has come under fire. The fifth season received a lot of negative feedback before it even premiered as it was released after the queen's death.
