National icon': Doctor Khumalo honoured with football doccie'16V Doctor Khumalo: Untold' will feature interviews from the legendary footballer's former teammates, celebrities and politicians.

Former footballer Doctor Khumalo was one of the most skilled players on the South African pitch. Khumalo was a midfielder for Kaizer Chiefs and for the national team, where he scored several goals for Mzansi. To celebrate his phenomenal football career, Mzansi Magic will be airing a new documentary series titled 16V Doctor Khumalo: Untold. The series will air for four weeks from Sunday 2 October.

16V DOCTOR KHUMALO: UNTOLD' There have been several documentaries exploring the lives of Mzansi's most influential people, but never one about a football legend. As per DailySun, 16V Doctor Khumalo: Untold will tell the story of Doctor Khumalo navigating the world of football and family. The documentary will also take viewers through times when the legendary football player lost family members.

The documentary will reportedly be narrated by the Kaizer Chiefs legend himself and will feature interviews with former teammates, celebrities and politicians.

16V Doctor Khumalo: Untold is a celebratory, raw and honest portrait of one of our living legends, said M-Net's director of local entertainment channels, Shirley Adonisi.

HONOURING A NATIONAL ICON' With 50 appearances on the football pitch as a Bafana Bafana player, Doctor Khumalo very quickly became an influential soccer player. Shirley Adonisi said that 16V Doctor Khumalo: Untold was a series people did not want to miss.

As a channel we are proud to have the opportunity to honour our national icons while they are still alive.

The documentary's executive producer, Richard Mahogany, said he couldn't say much about the series.

I just know that there will be a variety of celebs and ex-footballers, said Mahogany.

The documentary series will premiere on Sunday 2 October on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161).

HOW MUCH DID DOCTOR KHUMALO EARN AT KAIZER CHIEFS? As per The Citizen, Doctor Khumalo revealed that he earned R8 000 as a Kaizer Chiefs football player adding that he thought his life was going to change .

My first car came later on It was not from my first salary. It came years after I started playing. I don't want to be greedy with the advice I was given, we received the information. We captured it and now it is our turn to share it with the next generation, said Khumalo.

This game is not about you deciding that you will play for 20 years. You can be disciplined, but if the unexpected happens, you could get a serious injury and be forced to quit the game.
