In an ongoing effort to support music, Dynaudio offers recording opportunities to artists at the second-largest music festival in Denmark in August 2018

It may be a coincidence, but Denmark's second-largest music festival, Smukfest, just happens to be located in the backyard of industry-leading manufacturer of professional studio monitors, Dynaudio. Now, they have entered into a collaboration to debut Dynaudio's new pop-up recording studio concept - called Unheard - in August 2018.

Building a professional recording studio in a huge container might sound crazy to some, says VP of Sales and Product Manager for Dynaudio's Pro division, Rune Holst Jacobsen and continues. To us, music is an expression where every little individual sound has a character of its own, a meaning and a purpose. It's an intuitive and emotional connector that makes us feel alive. And that is exactly what we always aim to pass on to the producers working with our studio monitors. But now we want to take it a step further and assist in the artists' pursuit to craft their music in a very direct way.

Making the unheard, heard

For almost four decades, Dynaudio has been on the engineering forefront of enabling artists to connect with their audience. However, according to the company, not all artists have the privilege of being heard in the first place, as the top 1% artists earn 77% of all record industry income. And a stunning 91% of all artists are virtually undiscovered. That became a driver for the idea of building a pop-up studio in a cargo container.

We decided to approach Smukfest, as they have a couple of days dedicated to upcoming bands, and we would like help them in their quest to get their music to a broader audience, Rune Holst Jacobsen explains. We'll also have more established Danish artists such as Ida Corr, Dj mes Braun/Pilfinger, Johnson and DJ Static record in the studio, of course, but this is a sincere effort to help great, yet-to-be-discovered bands - because at the end of the day what is music without an audience?

And the concept is not a one-off: Dynaudio plans to use the Unheard studio for other events around the world in the future, including music festivals and tradeshows.

Visit Dynaudio Unheard at Smukfest from Sunday August 5 until Saturday August 11. The studio is at K rligHeden Mark 1. Visitors can stay as long as they want and experience some fantastic new music.
