John August, guionista y colaborador habitual de Tim Burton en pel culas como Charlie y la F brica de Chocolate o La Novia Cad ver, imparti el pasado fin de semana en Madrid una Masterclass de Gui n donde expres la necesidad de que exista un colectivo de guionistas fuerte y unido para poder realizar buenos trabajos y obtener una remuneraci n justa, como sucede en Estados Unidos.
August anim a los creadores espa oles a afiliarse a ALMA Guionistas con el objetivo de lograr las condiciones id neas para desarrollar su labor profesional con estabilidad, algo que solo se logra con el apoyo del resto de guionistas, como ocurre en Hollywood , asegur .
A lo largo de las seis horas que dur la Master Class, August abord todo tipo de temas, explic sus rutinas de trabajo, habl sobre la creaci n de los personajes, las expectativas de la audiencia y c mo cumplirlas o c mo gestionar la relaci n con los productores de las pel culas y series, entre muchos otros asuntos.
August, comprometido con su profesi n, defini el oficio de guionista como un arte invisible, un medio que la mayor a de la gente desconoce: no suelen saber que hay alguien que escribe todas esas pel culas que ven.
La Master Class, celebrada en el Centro Conde Duque de Madrid, colg el cartel de Sold Out y se suma as al xito de las ediciones anteriores en las que participaron showrunners y guionistas de producciones como The Simpson, Mad Men o The Affair.
Con estas Master Class de Gui n, el sindicato ALMA persigue fomentar el aprendizaje de los profesionales para adaptar nuestros formatos y maneras de concebir la ficci n, ser competitivos en los mercados internacionales y tener mayor presencia en los extranjeros, as como poner en valor la figura del guionista como pilar fundamental de las series o el cine

La filmograf a de John August como guionista incluye t tulos como Viviendo sin l mites, Big Fish, Frankenweenie, La novia cad ver, Charlie y la f brica de chocolate y la saga de Los ngeles de Charlie. Su debut como director, The Nines, se estren en el festival de Sundance de 2007. En televisi n, ha creado series para The WB, Fox y ABC. Ha escrito el libreto de la adaptaci n musical para Broadway de Big Fish. Su compa a, Quote-Unquote Apps, ha creado varias apps muy tiles para guionistas, especialmente la aplicaci n de escritura de guiones para iPhone Highland and Weekend Read. Tambi n ha creado el Writer Emergency Pack. John copresenta el podcast Scriptnotes con Craig Mazin y trabaja frecuentemente como asesor del Sundance Screenwriter Lab.
