ITV Studios buys stake in Blumhouse Television

ITV Studios has purchased a 45 per cent stake in Blumhouse Television.

The deal will see the two companies set up an autonomous studio operation focusing on what Blumhouse described as dark genre programming for global audiences.

Blumhouse TV's output includes documentary series The Jinx, Ryan Murphy's drama The Normal Heart, a TV series based on The Purge and the upcoming Sharp Objects, an adaptation of the novel by Gillian Flynn.

Marci Wiseman and Jeremy Gold will continue to run Blumhouse Television as co-presidents, reporting to founder Jason Blum and president Charles Layton. All four join the board of ITV.

Over the past few years, we have been working to build Blumhouse Television into an independent studio so we can have the autonomy to work with the best storytellers and give them freedom to create the best dark genre programming, said Blum.
