Netflix Releases Trailer for Radioactive Emergency, a Brazilian Miniseries Based on the Real-Life Cesium-137 Accident

S o Paulo, March 3, 2026 - Netflix has released the trailer for Radioactive Emergency, a new Brazilian miniseries starring Johnny Massaro and Paulo Gorgulho, which revisits one of the most significant episodes of Brazils recent Brazilian: the Cesium-137 accident that took place in Goi nia in 1987. With the miniseries release date set for March 18, these newly released scenes showcase a tense and uncertain atmosphere from multiple perspectives, during a time when few understood the full gravity of the contamination incident.

Produced by Gullane, Radioactive Emergency is inspired by the real-life Goi nia accident. The series begins when a radiotherapy device is opened at a scrapyard, releasing radioactive materials that spread through Goi nia. A race against time follows, as the authorities and specialists work to track the contamination and save lives, including those of an entire family affected by the tragedy. The drama shines a light on the anonymous heroes whose efforts mobilized the country and brought renewed attention to the work of Brazilian scientists and medical teams.

The miniseries is directed by Fernando Coimbra, with co-direction by Iber Carvalho, produced by Caio Gullane and Fabiano Gullane, created by Gustavo Lipsztein, and executive produced by Caio Gullane, Fabiano Gullane, Pablo Torrecillas, and Ana Saito. The screenplay was written by Gustavo Lipsztein, Rafael Sp nola, Fernando Coimbra, Stephanie Degreas, and Fernando Garrido.

In addition to Johnny Massaro (M rcio) and Paulo Gorgulho (Orenstein), the cast also features Tuca Andrada (Governor), Bukassa Kabengele (Evenildo), Ana Costa (Ant nia), Alan Rocha (Jo o), Marina Merlino (Catarina), William Costa (Darlei), Antonio Saboia (Eduardo), Luiz Bertazzo (Loureiro), Clarissa Kiste (Paula), and Douglas Simon (Souza), with special appearances by Leandra Leal (Esther) and Em lio de Mello (C sar).

Radioactive Emergency premieres March 18, only on Netflix.
