Gestmusic, a Banijay Iberia company, confirms it will produce Onliners and Old Timers (Canvi de Xip) in collaboration with Catalan Ministry of Culture for TV3. The new social experiment pairs tech-savvy millennials with older technophobes, as they attempt to enter the twenty-first century.
In a short time, the pensioners will be introduced to the wonders of the worldwide web. For those that have fallen behind, the digital world can be very overwhelming, which is where charismatic shrewd millennials come in. They put their student through their paces as they master creating viral videos, reconnecting with family via videoconferencing and online shopping.
This show was originally produced by Banijay UK's Princess Productions and has been adapted by Endemol Shine Finland for Yle TV 1.
Lucas Green, Global Head of Operations Comments: Onliners and Old Timers explores how different generations can learn from each other in an uplifting, engaging and humorous format. At a time when we are relying on technology and human connection more than ever, this experiment goes beyond a television show, as each generation will walk away with a new skill-set.
Tinet Rubira, Managing Director of Gestmusic says: To millennials, the internet is a part of their daily routine as much as brushing their teeth, but it is not always a simple task to show the older generation how easy it can be to use technology. Funny, touching and revealing, this format sees cross-generational cooperation at its best.
Gestmusic has brought hit-shows to Spain for over three decades (Boom!, Ahora Caigo), and has created successful international hits such as Your Face sounds familiar, Operaci n Triunfo, and the recent success Top Gamers Academy, the world's first gaming talent show with a strong digital presence via Twitch and Youtube. Gestmusic is also responsible for Banister, a streaming platform that has its own ticket sales and roadmap development, with a dedicated team who enable the publishing of concerts and streaming, as well as virtual audience.
