Yesterday Bring Back Hornby: A Model World

UKTV has commissioned a second series of Hornby: A Model World (10x60) for its leading factual channel, Yesterday. Produced by Rare TV, the new series will once again go behind the doors of Hornby HQ in Margate, home to brands Hornby, Airfix, Scalextric and Corgi.

Narrated by Sunetra Sarker (Ackley Bridge, Casualty), the series observes the ups and downs of the design process as the teams at Hornby attempt to get the all-important details spot on, whether its perfecting the sound of a 1930s steam loco or the stitching on a First World War fighter plane. The first series featured layouts created by actor Eddie Izzard and music producer Pete Waterman.

Series one launched to a consolidated 630k, making it the second highest series launch on Yesterday ever. The season went on to average a consolidated 390k across its ten episodes, with total consumption pushing this to 756k*.

Hornby: A Model World is commissioned for UKTV by senior commissioning editor, Helen Nightingale and ordered by Yesterday channel director, Gerald Casey and deputy director of commissioning, Hilary Rosen. Richard Watsham is director of commissioning for UKTV and Steve North is genre general manager, comedy and entertainment. The series is produced by Rare TV and the executive producer is Emma Barker.
