Jerusalem, ISRAEL - November 7, 2013 Israels President, Shimon Peres, met this morning (Thursday) with Dr. Tom Leighton, co-founder and CEO of Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), who arrived in Israel for a two-day visit that marks the Companys 15-year anniversary. During his visit, Dr. Leighton will inaugurate the Companys new headquarters in Herzliya, announce a recruitment campaign to increase Akamais employee base in Israel and meet with several Israeli companies to evaluate possible collaborations with technology-driven startups in hopes to tighten Akamais relationship with Israel.

In his meeting with the President, Dr. Leighton presented Mr. Peres with a new book on the late Daniel Lewin, the Israeli co-founder of Akamai.

President Peres congratulated Leighton on his visit. He said he has high regard for Akamais work in Israel and expressed his hope the Company would expand its operations in Israel further.

Dr. Tom Leighton told the President, Your contributions to advancing technology in Israel and around the world have been significant and have helped position Israel at the forefront of technology. I am extremely honored to visit Israel, to which I feel strongly attached in view of our corporate history.

Akamai employs over 3,700 people worldwide, 100 of whom are in Israel, due in part to the acquisition of Israeli startup Cotendo in 2011. Akamai will officially inaugurate its new Israel center this week. At the inauguration, Dr. Leighton will announce a recruitment effort with the goal of increasing the Companys employee base in Israel.
