El Festival de Cine de Madrid, organizado por la Plataforma Nuevos Realizadores desvela los nombres de sus dos premios m s importantes. Por un lado, el merecido reconocimiento a la figura de la directora Manane Rodr guez (Montevideo, 1955) y por otro al cineasta Volker Schl ndorff (Wiesbaden, 1939), uno de los m ximos exponentes del denominado nuevo cine alem n. Ambas figuras han sido seleccionadas por su amplia y prol fica trayectoria f lmica y su contribuci n a la creaci n de obras de gran calado social y pol tico.
En su apuesta por el cine emergente, el Festival de Cine de Madrid ha puesto su mirada, una vez m s, en el trabajo de una figura femenina, la de la cineasta Manane Rodr guez. Nacida en 1955 en Montevideo (Uruguay) y afincada en Galicia, tras terminar sus estudios de direcci n en el Taller de Artes Imaginarias en Madrid, inici su carrera profesional realizando diversas ayudant as en pel culas de Carlos Serrano, Julio S nchez Vald s y Luis G. Berlanga. En 1990 dirige su primer cortometraje de ficci n, Juego de caf , y en 1994 funda en A Coru a, junto a Xavier Berm dez y Luis Fern ndez, la productora Xamal Films.
Desde entonces, ha probado en el campo de la ficci n con Retrato de una mujer con hombre al fondo (1996), su primer largometraje, as como del documental en formato cortometraje con Rara Avis (1994) y en largo con Memorias Rotas (2011), con notable xito. Con su segundo largometraje, la coproducci n hispano-argentina Los pasos perdidos (2001), obtuvo grandes reconocimientos, como la Menci n Especial del Jurado de la Prensa Internacional (FIPRESCI) en la SEMINCI de Valladolid. Su ltimo trabajo Migas de pan (2016) es su quinto largometraje de ficci n, un duro retrato sobre la represi n de la dictadura uruguaya sobre las mujeres, que estuvo en la carrera a la Mejor Pel cula de habla no inglesa en la pasada edici n de los Oscar.
El Festival mira a Alemania
El Premio Mirada Internacional ser para el cineasta alem n Volker Shl ndorff (Wiesbaden, Hessen, Alemania, 1939). Formado en Ciencias Pol ticas y Econ micas en la Soborna de Par s y en direcci n en el Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinematographique (.Herzog o Fassbinder como Louis Malle, Jean Pierre Melville o Alain Resnais. De ellos aprendi algunas de las t cnicas y narrativas que luego traslad al que se bautiz como el nuevo cine alem n, junto a otras figuras reconocidas como Nouvelle Vague.
Con su pel cula El Tambor de Hojalata (1979), basada en la novela de G nter Grass, el director alem n se consagr en el panorama cinematogr fico internacional al ganar un Oscar a la Mejor Pel cula de habla no inglesa y la Palma de Oro en el Festival de Cannes. Pero su particular estilo y sus xitos se han venido repitiendo en otros t tulos, tanto en el campo de la ficci n como del documental, como es el caso de su famoso ciclo de entrevistas realizado a Billy Wilder, con Billy Wilder c mo lo hiciste? (1992). Su ltima pel cula Regreso a Montauk (2017) se estrenar en cines de toda Espa a el pr ximo 3 de agosto.
